Account audit
“Audit my Google Ads account: where money is wasted, whether conversion tracking works, and what to fix first.”
Here's how to safely connect Google Ads to Claude Duet, so the agent can check your campaigns, tell you what needs your attention and manage the changes you approve. Setup takes about two minutes, and AdPlug has Duet show you each change and wait for your OK before anything runs.

Add Google Ads to Claude in two minutes
AdPlug - Google Adshttps://api.adplug.app/mcp/google-adsResearch preview
Claude Duet is in research preview: US only for now, on Claude Pro and Max, by waitlist. Duet works with the connectors on your Claude account, so whatever you connect in Claude, AdPlug included, is there in Duet too. Source: Anthropic's Get started with Claude Duet.
01
Duet is Anthropic's proactive agent. Their launch post describes it working in the background on its own cloud computer, sending a short brief each morning, checking your connected apps every few hours, and messaging you when something needs a decision. You talk to it by text or voice, in one thread, and it hands back finished work: docs, sheets, decks.
It shares your Claude plan's usage limits, background checks included. If you're outside the US, everything in steps 1 to 5 works in a normal Claude chat today, and Duet picks it up when it reaches you.
02
Steps 1 and 2 happen in AdPlug, steps 3 to 5 in Claude, and step 6 in Duet. It takes about two minutes.
Go to adplug.app/signup, sign in with Google or email, and follow the short onboarding. It ends on your AdPlug dashboard.

On the dashboard, click Connect Google Ads (or open the Connections page). AdPlug takes you through Google's own sign-in; use the Google identity that can see the accounts you want Duet to work on.

If you manage clients through a manager account (MCC), connect the manager identity. One connection then covers every account under it.

Open Add custom connector in Claude. Paste the name and the URL below, then click Add.
Name
AdPlug - Google AdsURL
https://api.adplug.app/mcp/google-ads
The link opens the form straight away. You'll find the same form under Customize → Connectors, Add, Add custom connector.
Start a new Claude chat, check the connector is switched on in the + menu under Connectors, and ask:
“List my Google Ads accounts.”
Claude calls the google_ads_list_accounts tool and returns your accounts with their names, currencies, and manager hierarchy. If that works, the connection is good end to end.

Open Duet, in the app on your phone or on claude.ai, and send:
“Give me a snapshot of my Google Ads over the last 30 days: what's working, where money is wasted, any tracking or disapproval problems, and what to fix first.”
Duet pulls the numbers through AdPlug and comes back with a snapshot: what's working, what isn't, and what needs you first. Ask your follow-ups in the same thread. That's the quickest way to see how much of the account work it can take off you.
03
Duet has two ways into a service. For sites without a connector it uses its own cloud browser, which you can't watch or take over. With a connector it gets the platform's API instead: reports come back as data, a change is a named operation with exact values, and you don't have to sign Duet's browser in to your ad account.
Google Ads isn't one of the apps Anthropic names for Duet, and the Google apps it does name (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) don't reach ads. Claude's connector directory has no Google Ads connector from Google itself either (checked 27 October 2026). AdPlug fills that gap with the Google Ads API: reports, search terms, keyword research, and campaign changes you approve first. The Google Ads MCP overview lists everything it can read and change.
The route in this guide has three links: Google Ads connects to AdPlug, AdPlug is added to Claude as a custom connector, and Duet uses the connectors on your Claude account. Anthropic's safety page puts it plainly: the apps you've connected to Claude carry over to Duet, and switching one off in one place switches it off in both.
04
Duet is built to reach out first, so tell it what belongs in your morning brief:
“In my morning brief, include a quick Google Ads health check: spend, clicks and conversions against normal, campaigns that stopped spending or converting, tracking that went quiet, disapproved ads, and ads pointing at pages that 404. Flag only what needs me.”
The latest day's conversions are still coming in, so tell Duet to treat a small dip as lag before it flags one. If the brief comes back without Google Ads while Duet is in preview, ask in the thread instead. Then hand it the job that eats your Monday, the client report. Duet hands back finished work, so it's ready to send.
“Build a client-ready PDF report on last month's Google Ads, or a dashboard I can share: a short summary, results against the month before, the insights behind them, and what we change next.”

With the right connector, yes. Here's what keeps your account safe when Duet works through AdPlug.
Your password stays yours
You connect with Google's own sign-in, so neither Duet nor AdPlug ever sees your password, and you can disconnect at any time.
Every change asks first
AdPlug splits a change into a preview that shows exactly what will change and an execute that applies it after you say yes. On Google Ads the execute step won't run without a preview, and a preview you don't use expires.
Read-only when you want it
Set AdPlug's change tools to Blocked in Claude's connector settings, or stay on the free plan, which is view only. Team owners can set any teammate to View only.
Everything is logged
Every report call and executed change lands in your AdPlug Usage and Audit Log, so you can see what Duet did while you were away.
Duet adds its own guard. Anthropic built it to show you exactly what it's about to do and wait before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything; if you can't approve straight away, it finishes the rest and brings the approval back later. For ad changes, give it one rule in the thread:
“Never change anything in Google Ads without showing me AdPlug's preview first and waiting for my OK.”
In Claude's connector settings you can also set the change tools to Needs approval. Creating and editing campaigns needs a paid AdPlug plan, and your Usage and Audit Log shows every call.
06
Short ones that work as soon as you're connected. Swap in your own account and campaign names, and ask follow-ups in the same thread.
Account audit
“Audit my Google Ads account: where money is wasted, whether conversion tracking works, and what to fix first.”
Monday morning report
“Every Monday morning, send me last week's Google Ads results against the week before: what changed, why, and what needs me.”
Negative keywords
“Find search terms that spend without converting and suggest negatives. Don't add them yet.”
Budget pacing
“Which campaigns are on course to spend more or less than their budget this month, and why?”
Conversion tracking
“Check my conversion actions are still recording, and flag any that stopped.”
Ad copy
“Which ads are underperforming, and what would you test instead?”
Quality Score
“Which keywords have a low Quality Score, and what's dragging them down?”
Performance Max
“Where is my Performance Max budget going, and is it working?”
More copy-paste prompts live in the prompt playbooks, and Claude Duet for marketing has the jobs to hand Duet by role, from agencies to CMOs.
