Google Search Console MCP

The Google Search Console MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT.

Plug Search Console into the AI you already use. Ask why organic traffic dropped, which queries sit just off the top, why a page isn't indexed, and which of your Google Ads search terms you already rank for.

Google Search Console

Its own Google sign-in, separate from Google Ads. No Google Cloud project to set up, encrypted platform tokens, and a preview before every change.

What your AI can do once Search Console is connected.

Search Console usually gets opened after traffic has already dropped, and then it's a few reports and an export to work out why. Eight tools and fourteen ready-made analyses give your AI the queries, pages, indexing and sitemaps, with the arithmetic done on AdPlug's side so the numbers it quotes are exact.

Properties

Every site you can reach, in one list.

Domain and URL-prefix properties with your permission on each. Look after several sites? A 28-day summary of up to 50 properties comes back in one call, biggest first.

Reporting

Any Search Console report, from one question.

Queries, pages, countries, devices, search appearance, dates and hours, for web, image, video, news, Discover and Google News. Regex filters, and comparisons with the previous period or the same weekdays a year ago.

Traffic drops

Find out why clicks fell.

Days that broke the weekday pattern, matched to Google's ranking updates. Every page and query that lost clicks comes with its cause: lost rankings, lower CTR at the same rank, less demand, or dropped out altogether.

Quick wins

Queries close to the top three.

Positions 5 to 20 with the clicks position 3 would add, page-one queries with a CTR well below your site's usual rate at that position, and pages competing for the same query.

AI Overviews

See what changed at the same rank.

Search Console counts AI Overviews and AI Mode inside web totals, with no split. Your CTR at each position against a year ago, and the queries losing clicks without losing rank, is the footprint you can measure.

Indexing

Why a page is or isn't indexed.

Up to 25 URLs per call: Google's verdict, its chosen canonical against yours, the last crawl and rich results, next to a live fetch of the page as it is now. AdPlug keeps every inspection, so the next one says what changed.

Core Web Vitals

Real-user speed, with the trend.

LCP, INP and CLS from Chrome UX Report data, the field data behind Search Console's own report, for the site and its top pages, with a 12-week trend and anything that got worse.

Sitemaps

Sitemaps, checked live.

Google's errors and warnings, the sitemaps your robots.txt declares that the API never lists, and an audit that live-checks a sample of URLs and estimates how much of the sitemap is indexed.

Changes

Submit a sitemap from the chat.

Submit or remove a sitemap, add or remove a property. Every change is previewed first and counts as one AI edit, and team owners can keep a teammate on View only.

Paid and organic

Connect Google Ads to the same AdPlug account and one question lines the two up. AdPlug reads your search terms, Performance Max included, matches them against the queries you rank for, and checks your busiest ad landing pages live. No exports, no VLOOKUPs.

  • Spend on queries you already rank for

Paid search terms where you're in the organic top 3, with what they cost and how much of it is brand.

  • Converting terms with no organic page

Paid terms that convert where no page of yours ranks on page one. That's a content list, and the conversions show the demand is there.

  • Organic winners you don't bid on

Queries bringing in organic clicks with no paid coverage at all.

  • Ad landing pages, checked live

Your top 10 ad landing pages by cost, fetched now, with their organic clicks. A broken one is wasting spend today.

Before you pause anything

A top-3 ranking doesn't make the paid click a waste. Use the first list to plan a holdout test on some regions or hours, not to switch the campaign off.

What you can ask

Prompts for the day organic traffic dips.

Swap in your own site, dates and thresholds. The shape of the question is the work. Drop these into Claude or ChatGPT once Search Console is connected.

  • Organic clicks dropped last week. Find the days that broke the pattern, check them against Google's ranking updates, and tell me which pages lost the most and why.

Google Search Console MCP, frequently asked.

What is a Google Search Console MCP?

A Google Search Console MCP is a connector that lets an AI tool like Claude or ChatGPT read your Search Console data through Google's Search Console API: queries, pages, rankings, indexing and sitemaps. AdPlug's is hosted, so there's nothing to install, and it adds what the API doesn't give you on its own: analyses with exact numbers, a live check of each page, a history of the URLs you inspect, and your Google Ads search terms in the same answer.

Does Google have an official Search Console MCP server?

Not a documented one, as of October 2026. Google publishes MCP servers for Google Ads and Google Analytics, but not for Search Console, so the Search Console MCP servers around today are third-party. AdPlug's is hosted: you sign in with Google and paste one address, with no Google Cloud project or credentials to set up.

How do I connect Google Search Console to Claude?

Sign in to AdPlug, click Connect Google Search Console, and sign in with the Google account that can open your sites in Search Console. Google asks to let AdPlug view and manage your Search Console data: leave that box ticked. Then in Claude open Settings, then Connectors, click Add custom connector, and paste https://api.adplug.app/mcp/google-search-console. Approve AdPlug's sign-in and the connector is ready. It takes about two minutes.

How do I connect Google Search Console to ChatGPT? Do I need Developer mode?

Yes, ChatGPT adds custom MCP servers through Developer mode, which OpenAI lists for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Education accounts on the web. Turn it on under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings, then click Create app, paste https://api.adplug.app/mcp/google-search-console as the MCP Server URL, and approve AdPlug's sign-in.

Is Search Console part of AdPlug's all-platforms connector?

No. Search Console has its own connector, https://api.adplug.app/mcp/google-search-console. AdPlug's all-platforms URL, https://api.adplug.app/mcp, is for the ad platforms, so add Search Console next to it, or next to your Google Ads connector, in the same Claude or ChatGPT. Both run on the same AdPlug account.

Can the AI see my Google Ads data next to Search Console?

Yes, once Google Ads is connected to the same AdPlug account. The paid and organic analysis matches your Google Ads search terms, Performance Max included, against your organic queries. You get the spend on queries you already rank in the top 3 for, the paid terms that convert where you have no page-one organic result, and the organic winners with no paid coverage, plus your top ad landing pages checked live. A top-3 ranking doesn't make the paid click a waste, so treat that first list as the start of a holdout test, not a pause list. The free plan covers one platform, so this needs a paid plan.

Can AdPlug request indexing for a page?

No. Google has no API for Search Console's Request indexing button on normal pages. Its Indexing API is limited to job postings and livestream pages, and AdPlug doesn't use it. The supported route is submitting your sitemap, which AdPlug does after a preview, and a URL inspection shows what Google last saw next to what the page serves now.

Which Search Console reports can't the AI reach?

The ones Google offers no API for: Page indexing, Links, Manual actions, Security issues and Crawl stats, and removals and disavow too. Those stay in Search Console. Core Web Vitals has no Search Console API either, so AdPlug reads the same real-user data from Google's Chrome UX Report.

Why don't the numbers match the Search Console website?

Check the dates first. Search Console reports in Pacific Time, its last two days or so are still filling in, and it keeps 16 months of data. Totals include anonymized queries that never show up as rows, so the rows won't add up to the total: AdPlug gives you the real total and the anonymized share. AI Overviews and AI Mode are counted inside web totals, and the API can't split them out.

Can the AI make changes in Search Console?

Yes, on a paid plan, and there are four: submit or resubmit a sitemap, remove a sitemap, add a property, and remove a property. That's every change Google's API allows. Each one is previewed first, then applied with the same values, and counts as one AI edit. Team owners can set a teammate to View only for Search Console, which hides and blocks the change tools.

Is there a free Google Search Console MCP?

Yes. AdPlug's free plan is $0 forever and covers one platform, and Search Console can be that platform. It's view only: the AI reads everything and can preview a change without applying it, with 500 requests in your first month and 50 a month after that. Applying changes, a second platform and higher limits come with the paid plans.

Which Search Console properties can I connect?

Every property the Google account you sign in with can open in Search Console, Domain and URL prefix alike. If you look after several sites, the AI can pull a 28-day summary of up to 50 properties in one call, biggest first.

Is it safe to connect Search Console to an AI?

AdPlug signs in through Google's own consent screen, stores the refresh token encrypted at rest, and logs every tool call with user, action, outcome and timestamp. Changes need a preview, team owners can keep a teammate on View only, and you can disconnect from the dashboard at any time. The one thing AdPlug keeps from Search Console is the result of each URL inspection, so the next one can say what changed. Disconnecting deletes it.

What can AdPlug actually do on Search Console?

Eight tools, fourteen ready-made analyses, and four kinds of change, each previewed first. Properties: every property with your permission and its type, one property's overview, and a summary of up to 50 properties for agencies. Reports: queries, pages, countries, devices, search appearance, dates and hours, for web, image, video, news, Discover and Google News, with regex filters and comparisons with the previous period or the previous year. Analyses: overview, anomalies matched to Google ranking updates, declining pages and queries with their causes, striking distance, CTR opportunities, cannibalization, new and lost queries, brand split, CTR shift, page and query breakdowns, Core Web Vitals, and paid vs organic with Google Ads. Indexing: up to 25 URLs per call, Google's view next to a live fetch, a plain-language diagnosis, and what changed since the last inspection. Sitemaps: Google's errors and warnings, sitemaps declared in robots.txt, and a live audit with an estimated indexed share. Changes: submit, resubmit or remove a sitemap, and add or remove a property. Safety: every tool call is logged with user, action, outcome and timestamp.
